Concerns have been expressed in Cardiff, Wales that coronavirus cases are being detected among people returning from a holiday in Zakynthos, while 193 passengers have already been quarantined.
On Sunday it became known that 193 people (passengers and crew) aboard a TUI flight from Zakynthos, on August 25, were called into self-isolation for two weeks. Until now, 16 people who were on flight TOM6215 tested positive for the virus, according to the Cardiff health authorities.
Meanwhile, TUI said a full investigation of the case was underway and expressed concern about the allegations made by a woman who was traveling on the flight. Stephanie Whitfield, speaking to the BBC, he usually said the plane was full of “crown idiots”, while commenting that “the incompetent crew” did not mind the fact that the protection measures were not observed during the flight.
Initially, the Cardiff health services identified seven people who were positive for the coronavirus and possibly contagious during the flight. Since the process of informing those who traveled on this flight began, the number of cases has risen to 16, but he noted that it is not yet clear where they became infected with the coronavirus. The 193 passengers have already been asked to put themselves in isolation, while Dr Jiri Sankar, the Welsh public health service, asked those traveling on the flight to undergo symptom testing without delay.
However, these are not the only cases of “imported” cases from Zakynthos. Dr. Gwen Lowe, a public health consultant, said some 30 confirmed cases have been identified in Wales in the last week, among the people who returned from Zakynthos.
In fact, he estimated that this number will increase. the confirmed cases of virus infection refer to people who stayed in different hotels and returned from Zakynthos with different flights, he added.
“Flight disaster”
Stephanie Whitfield, who was on board the TUI plane that returned from Zakynthos to Cardiff on August 25, spoke of a catastrophic flight.
She and her husband decided to self-quarantine before they found out about the cases, she told the BBC. Now, tests will be done for mild symptoms.
“The flight was a disaster. My neighbor had her mask around his neck.” Not only did they not tell them to raise her, but they also gave her a free drink when she said she knew a member of the crew, “Whitfield said.
“Many took off their masks and walked in and out of the hall to talk to others. “As soon as the plane landed, a lot of people immediately took off their masks,” he said, adding: “The flight was filled with selfish ‘crown idiots’ and an incompetent crew who couldn’t be more indifferent.”
TUI for its part, in a statement, stressed that all passengers are informed before the trip, but also during the flight, that they must wear their masks and that they are not allowed to move in the cabin. “The mask can only be removed for eating and drinking,” the company said.
