Coronavirus – All news:The Professor of Pathology at the Medical Department of the University of Patras, Charalambos Gogos, spoke with ANT1 about the course of the coronavirus pandemic in the country and the situation in the ICU.
At the moment, he said, we are “at a low alert level”, but stressed that the issue is that more people need hospitalization. According to Mr. Gogos at the moment “the pressure is on the intubated and the ICU” and stressed that “the situation is getting worse in Attica”, since “there is little availability”, but in the rest of Greece as the image said I am best.
Finally, he stressed that “the crucial point is to have twice as many current cases or more than 1,000 every day.” At the moment, according to Gogos, the situation is at a relatively good level, while he urged people to get vaccinated against the flu.
More than ever intubated: 100 patients in the ICU
Patients intubated for coronavirus reached 100 on Saturday, causing alarm to health authorities for being the highest number since the start of the pandemic.
In August, the number of patients with coronavirus was 10. In September, their number reached 40, while on the first day of October That number jumped to 89.
Their average age is 68 years. 29 (29.0%) are women and the rest are men. 90.0% of intubated patients have an underlying disease or are 70 years or older. 238 patients have been discharged from the ICU.
According to the latest data, of the 272 Intensive Care Units for coronavirus, 111 are covered. In Attica, where the highest number of cases is recorded daily, only 38 ICU beds are empty.
Attica is in the “red”, away from the rest of the country. In the basin, 165 of the total of 306 new cases of coronavirus announced by EODY on Saturday were detected.
The increase in the number of daily cases and the need to intubate more patients with COVID-19 led to the rapid construction of a new state-of-the-art ICU in the “Sotiria” hospital after a donation from Parliament.
It is worth noting that there is a provision for an increase in ICU beds For the coronavirus, as highlighted by EKPA professor Thanos Dimopoulos, next week 50 beds will be inaugurated in the Sotiria hospital through a donation from Parliament.
In “red” Attica: these are the toughest new measures to come
Mandatory use of a mask in all areas, closing in health stores such as restaurants and cafes, but also strict movement restrictions are just some of the measures that could be implemented in Attica due to the coronavirus, if the Authorities put them in “Level 4” (higher risk).
Government sources highlight that to implement the maximum precaution plan cases in Attica should double to 700 and possibly 800 daily. The current panorama presented by the epidemiological data is considered stable and so far there is no fear of closing the restaurants and the bar at 10 pm. You can see that yesterday Saturday (10/10), they were recorded 306 cases in total, of which 165 are in Attica.
At the moment, at “level 3” are the Attica, Achaia, Karditsa, Trikala, Ioannina, Kozani, Kastoria, Pella, Heraklion, Thira, Samos, Mytilene, and Zakynthos.
