At 11.88% is the positivity rate for the coronavirus in Greece on Monday, based on official data from EODY, which denies the information circulated on the same day that amounts to more than 20%.

It should be remembered that EODY announced 1,251 new cases of coronavirus on Monday, at a time when the pressure on the health system continues with 600 intubated in ICUs in the country. The death toll in the last 24 hours amounts to 89 of our fellow citizens.

According to information from iefimerida, on Sunday, December 6, 4,421 rapid and 6,105 molecular tests were carried out for the coronavirus.

According to the announcement, 1,251 new cases emerged, raising the positivity rate at 11.88%. Clarify that the positivity index is the percentage of positives in the coronavirus, in the total of the tests carried out.

EODY’s announcement for rapid coronavirus tests

EODY teams, consisting of Mobile Health Teams (KOMY), today conducted free rapid antigen tests (driving test), via cars (driving). A total of 537 rapid tests were performed, of which 19 positive cases of the SARS-CoV-2 virus were found, which translates into a positivity rate of 3.54%. Positive test results refer to 9 men and 10 women.

Data on current actions in open spaces across Greece are presented in the following areas:

  • Kastoria PE – Kyknon Avenue. 35 rapid tests were performed and 2 were positive (5.71%). They refer to 2 men with a mean age of 48 years.
  • PE Corinth – Agioi Theodoroi. 133 rapid tests were performed and 1 was positive (0.75%). It is a 45-year-old woman.
  • PE Lesbos – Gera. 149 rapid tests were performed and 5 were positive (3.36%). They refer to 4 men and a woman with an average age of 43 years.
  • PE Syros – Iroon Polytechniou 19, Ermoupoli. 14 rapid tests were performed, all of which were negative.
  • PE Trikala – Trikala. 206 rapid tests were performed and 11 positive results were obtained (5.34%). They refer to 3 men and 8 women with a mean age of 41 years.

Cases are reduced in some areas, while others “boil”

Citing EODY data once again, of the total of new coronavirus diagnoses, 250 were located in Attica and 243 in Thessaloniki. In addition, 102 cases of coronavirus were recorded in the last 24 hours in Kilkis.

Ms Papaevangelou noted during the live briefing on the course of the pandemic that cases are declining in some areas, but there are other areas that are still “seething”.

Different Christmas due to coronavirus

The Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, during the interview he gave to the Alpha bulletin, called on the public to observe the measures again, while pointing out that this year we will celebrate Christmas at home with a maximum of nine people.

Mr. Mitsotakis expressed the opinion that nighttime entertainment in the country will not work again before adequate vaccination, something that he does not rule out keeping nightclubs closed until next Easter.

Earlier, government spokesman Stelios Petsas officially announced that restaurants and schools will be closed until the end of the year, while referring to the most recent announcements for the opening of retail and hair salons.
