Coronavirus: Cases are launched in Attica – Authorities on alert for the new school year – Society

The concern of epidemiologists that the widespread spread of coronavirus cases could put pressure on the health system is confirmed, since yesterday two cases of outbreaks signaled a red alert to the General Secretariat for Civil Protection. Both the nursing home in Moschato and the reception structure for unaccompanied minors in Byron show that the increase in cases in Attica can turn into a particularly bad situation.

On the one hand, the virus has insidiously invaded the structure of a nursing home, where the effects can be particularly unpleasant due to people belonging to vulnerable groups found there, on the other hand, the virus has been found to have spread quickly in a childish structure. And this 2 weeks before the opening of the schools where some accidental children are expected to definitely be there.

Of course, the fact that cases are detected immediately is positive. On the other hand, complacency is not allowed in any case, with the reasoning that in the last three days the new cases have fallen below 200.

At the briefing scheduled for today by the Ministry of Health and the Vice Minister of Civil Protection and Crisis Management, it is expected that specific instructions will be given on what measures should be taken to move safely in the fall.

The Attica region with nearly 2,000 new cases in August, most of which are transmissions after returning from vacation, has been put under the microscope. It is observed that more than 50% of the new cases in the specific Regional Unit since the beginning of the epidemic were detected this summer month.

It is very likely that the extension of the restrictive measures on restoration will be announced for at least another two weeks, which is the time until the schools open.

In reference to the latest epidemiological data, we must mention that the total number of coronavirus infections in Greece amounts to 10,317 until today, as yesterday afternoon on Monday (8/31), announced the National Public Health Organization. 183 new cases of the new virus in the country, of which 10 were detected after controls at the country’s gateways.
