Boris Johnson was informed that he would have to isolate himself because he came into contact with a person who tested positive for Covid-19, Downing Street announced today.
Johnson “will continue to work from Downing Street and lead the government’s efforts to address the coronavirus pandemic,” said a spokesman for the prime minister, who contracted the disease in the spring and needed treatment.
“The prime minister is fine and has no symptoms of Covid-19,” the spokesperson added.
The British health services announced 24,964 new cases of Covid-19 today, a figure slightly lower than that of Saturday, when confirmed cases amounted to 26,860. The deaths recorded in a 24-hour period fell to 168, from 462 yesterday. In total, 51,934 people have died in Britain since the pandemic began.
