Extraordinary meeting on Tuesday night at the Palace of the Maximum, under the mandate of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, on the occasion of the explosive increase in coronavirus cases announced by EODY with 667 new infections.
The meeting was attended by Kikilias, Mr. Tsiodras, Mr. Hardalias and Mr. Arkoumaneas.
On the table for the next few days, there are new measures and local closures depending on the outbreak of the pandemic.
Concern for Kastoria and Thessaloniki
As it became known, on Wednesday Nikos Hardalias will go to Kastoria urgently, while on Thursday he will go to Thessaloniki. These are two areas that, as the Vice Minister of Civil Protection said, show an increase in the epidemiological burden in the last 24 hours.
The concern for Thessalonica has to do with the celebrations of October 26, Saint Demetrius. In any case, the proposals of the special committee on infectious diseases, which meets on Wednesday, will be crucial. A disturbing example was the overcrowding phenomenon observed over the weekend at Aristotelous Square and Aristotle University.
More specifically, Nikos Hardalias rang the bell for Kastoria and Thessaloniki, as well as for Ioannina, Serres and Boeotia.
For Ioannina, Thessaloniki and Kastoria, he said that the shipment will be evaluated by the special committee of epidemiologists of the map of health security and protection of the coronavirus on Wednesday at 5 in the afternoon.
“Thessaloniki is at surveillance level 2 and Ioannina and Kastoria are at level 3. In all three areas, the increase in cases is aggressive and extremely dangerous,” he said.
For Attica, he said the situation is critically stable but due to the number of active cases “we are concerned that all this could be reversed for the worse.”
For his part, G. Majorkinis said that There are several outbreaks outside of Attica, which represent more than 50% of the registered infections.
“Indicatively, the epidemiological burden has increased particularly in the regions of the relatively northern part of the country, such as Thessaloniki, Kozani, Ioannina, Serres and Kastoria,” he said during Tuesday’s briefing.
