Coronavirus: 205 cases of the mutated virus – Where are the 31 new ones?

The total number of mutated coronavirus cases in the country amounted to 205.

According to the announcement of the National Genomic Surveillance Network for SARS-CoV-2 mutations, the genomic analysis of 96 samples corresponding to the period 19-27 January 2021 and from Attica and Thessaloniki has been completed.

Of the 96 samples tested, 76 met the strict quality criteria required for analysis and the final test was completed successfully.

The audit revealed a total of 31 samples positive for the VOC 202012/01 strain (Lineage B.1.1.7), all located in Attica.

Specifically, the strain VOC 202012/01 (Lineage B.1.1.7) was detected in:
⋅7 samples from hospitals
⋅24 samples of Health Centers

In our country, a total of 204 positive samples have been identified for the mutant strain B.1.1.7 / UK lineage and a mutant strain Lineage B.1.351 / South Africa of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
