In 1,724 new cases of coronavirus are reported in the country in the last 24 hours, according to EODY’s announcement.
At the same time, 65 deaths were recorded, with the death toll reaching a total of 7,945.
At the same time, in 738 intubated patients.
They took place 15,607 test with positivity amounting to 11.04%.
- 773 are located in Attica (607 yesterday).
- 241 are from Thessalonica (230 yesterday).
The new infections in the Basin and in the PE of the Islands come from the Peripheral Unit as follows:
- East Attica 99 (101 yesterday).
- 93 from the northern sector of Athens (122 yesterday).
- West Attica 40 (27 yesterday).
- 94 from the western sector of Athens (72 yesterday).
- 178 of the Central Sector of Athens (161 yesterday).
- 102 from the southern sector of Athens (67 yesterday).
- 161 Piraeus (54 yesterday).
- 6 of the Saronic Gulf Islands (3 yesterday).
The EODY announcement
The data presented refer to incidents of the epidemiological surveillance of the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19), based on the data reported to EODY and registered until March 29, 2021 (3:00 p.m.).
The new laboratory-confirmed cases of the disease registered in the last 24 hours are 1,724, of which 22 were identified after controls at the gates of the country.
The total number of cases amounts to 255,755 (daily variation + 0.7%), of which 51.5% are men. Based on the confirmed cases of the last 7 days, 72 are considered related to travel from abroad and 2,162 are related to an already known case.

The new deaths of patients with COVID-19 are 65, while since the beginning of the epidemic a total of 7,945 deaths have been registered. 95.7% had an underlying disease and / or were 70 years or older.
The number of patients treated by intubation is 738 (63.6% men). Their average age is 68 years. 82.5% have an underlying disease and / or are 70 years or older. Since the start of the pandemic, 1,677 patients have left the ICU.
The admission of new patients with Covid-19 to hospitals in the territory is 456 (daily variation + 8.06%). The average seven-day admission is 447 patients.
The mean age of the cases is 44 years (range 0.2 to 105 years), while the mean age of death is 79 years (range 0 to 103 years).
Distribution of reported domestic cases: Of the total of 1,724 new cases of the new virus in the country, 22 are imported, of which 22 were detected after controls at the country’s gateways.

“70% of the patients are young”

Referring to the pressure exerted on the health system, he pointed out that in the “Gennimatas” hospital, which was on duty, in the last hours 73 admissions of patients with COVID-19 in individual beds and 15 admissions in ICU beds. He added that the hospital ICU beds are full.

Regarding the possibility of lifting the restrictive measures, he stressed that they should have begun to open schools, shops and restaurants. He expressed appreciation that it is better to open the restaurant outdoors than to have meetings at home.

Shortage in ICU
