Coronation Greece: 156 new cases, 2401 in total

According to Sotiris Tsiodras, around 2.5 million people are positive for the virus worldwide.

In Greece, the following is recorded:

• 156 new cases, 150 in structure in Kranidi – A total of 2,401 – 56% men
• 24% related to foreign travel, 46% with a case already known
• 59 intubated in hospitals, average age 67 years – 84.7% with underlying disease
• 46 were discharged from hospitals
• 5 new deaths, 121 total in Greece – 74 years old on average – 9 out of 10 with underlying disease
• 55,666 clinical samples have been tested

We are badly affected by these cases in young people without an underlying disease, he noted. One of the important messages is to be vigilant so as not to endanger our loved ones.

An example is herpes, which in some cases causes encephalitis, taking advantage of some “back doors” of the body.

We are still doing well. It is due to everyone’s measures and responsibility. It gives us room to relax the steps that will be taken gradually and carefully, said Mr Tsiodras.

We will adjust the measures according to the intensity of the pandemic. This is the reason why the epidemiological image is important for the measures to be taken.

The controlled relaxation of the measures will be announced in the coming days. Regarding schools, the committee will make recommendations based on public health.

Determination in the next phase will be crucial so that everyone can monitor our health and meticulously observe hygiene rules, Mr. Tsiodras concluded.
