The number of new cases that nightmare scenarios confirm is terrifying. The barrier of 2,000 cases was broken on Saturday, causing fear and concern, since during the weekend the number of cases is usually less than the real one, since the diagnostic centers operate in limited hours.
The number of intubated, which exceeded 135, also causes a shock, with an alarming increase in pressure on the National Health System.
2,056 new cases
Specifically, on Saturday 2,056 new cases of the new virus were announced in the country, of which 62 are associated with outbreaks and 22 were detected after controls at the country’s gateways.
The total number of cases is 39,251 (daily variation + 5.5%), of which 55.1% are men.
Of the total of 39,251 cases, 4,112 (10.5%) are considered travel-related, 13,278 (33.8%)
related to an already known case and the rest are not related to travel or any other known case or are still
under investigation.
THE middle age of the cases is 38 years (range 0 to 103 years), while the average age of death is 79 years (range 25 to 102
years). The age distribution of (a) total cases, (b) deaths, and (c) patients
treated by intubation, is as follows:
The number of intubated is increasing
135 of our fellow citizens are being treated by intubation.
Their average age is 65. 38 (28.1%) are women and the rest are men. 93.3% of intubated patients have an underlying disease or are 70 years or older. 291 patients have been discharged from the ICU.
Finally, we have 6 more deaths registered and 626 deaths in total in the country. 238 (38.0%) women and the rest men. The mean age of our dying fellow citizens was 79 years and 96.2% had an underlying disease and / or were 70 years or older.
Geographic dispersion
The map shows the geographic distribution of total COVID-19 cases (since the start of the epidemic) by
Peripheral unit of the country, according to the declared address of permanent residence of the patient, or
temporary residence for tourists and other temporary residents in Greece.
It includes both cases with a travel history (“imported”) and cases with possible national transmission.
