The country is approaching the widespread use of the mask, especially in areas with an epidemiological burden such as Attica, since despite the measures that have already been implemented, the coronavirus is spreading at a constant rate.
The number of cases in this phase has stabilized at 400 per day, and half or more of them are in Attica. Both the basin and various areas of the country, more recently Achaia, Ioannina and Kozani, are under epidemiological surveillance, according to the level of alert declared by the scientific and health authorities.
However, especially for Attica, the fact that there is a constant upward trend but not an exponential increase in cases is considered positive.
And the cases may have stabilized, but ICU hospitalizations and deaths are at April levels! The 91 intubated patients registered in today’s epidemiological report in the ICUs of public hospitals are just 2 fewer than the 93 intubated patients registered on April 5, 2020, one of the worst days in terms of ICU treatment.
Also, the number of victims of the epidemic refers to that period. In the first days of last April, 5 to 9 deaths were reported daily, as is the case now. Indicative of the impact that the coronavirus has in this phase is that 39 people have finished in the first 8 days of October.
Kikilias: On the table the general use of the mask – The last measure is the confinement
Vassilis Kikilias spoke about the spread of the coronavirus in our country and the possibility of imposing new measures to reduce the pandemic in the main ANT1 newsletter.
The Health Minister stressed that the scientists with whom the government cooperates have the first word. At the same time, he called for the implementation of the measures that have already been announced, “before reaching the point of imposing new ones.” Mr. Kikilias noted that cases in Attica appear to be stabilizing and this shows that the measures are working, but there is an increase in other parts of the country. 
He also referred to yesterday’s rally in front of the Court of Appeals where the Golden Dawn case is being processed and asked the thousands of citizens who gathered to be very careful in the coming days.
Asked about the possibility of imposing a general blockade, Vassilis Kikilias replied that this is the last resort, since we must consider the economic consequences and the needs of society. Regarding the possibility of imposing the use of a mask outdoors, he said that it is a possible measure that is on the table and everything will be judged by the experts.
Mr Kikilias, answering the question of when the για bell will ring for ICUs, said that new ICUs are constantly being added to the system and next week, in fact, the Prime Minister will deliver 50 new ones. Especially in Attica, according to the person in charge, Ms Kotanidou, the strengths of the system will begin to be tested, when the intubated will exceed 100 and will approach 150.
In December in Greece the first vaccines against the coronavirus
Greece will have 600,000 doses of vaccine in December, if all goes well, of course, to deal with the pandemic.
The country is equipping itself against the pandemic, of the order of 3,500,000. vaccines for the coronavirus, which will gradually arrive in Greece, until April, provided, of course, they receive approval first.
Specifically, those of Astrazeneca are expected in December, at the end of January 2021 from Pfizer, while in April 2021 from Johnson & Johnson. With this company, the European Commission reached an agreement for 400,000,000 installments, even paying an advance.
Doctors, nurses and health workers will be the first to be vaccinated to create a bulwark in dispersion. In the second phase, vulnerable groups will be vaccinated, although there will be enough, the rest of the population will be vaccinated with priority to the elderly.
Until then, the only weapon doctors have against the virus is remedisivir. For this reason, the European Union has ordered 500,000 doses of the drug that so far has the best results in the treatment of coronavirus symptoms.
Cases are high Thursday: Attica is in “red” once again
“Red” hits the coronavirus pandemic in Attica, which even today, traditionally, registers the majority of cases across the country.
Specifically, of the 436 announced today, 219 are located in Attica.
At the same time, six new deaths were registered, raising the tragic story to 430, while those intubated with 91 of our fellow citizens in the ICU are at high levels.
