Coronaios: Thousands of cases under 40 – Hospitals collapse prematurely

The battle is now being fought in the streets and the victims of the mutated coronavirus are the young. The “invulnerable” in the first period of the pandemic, became easy victims of a virus that spreads throughout the country and especially in northern Greece.

The coronavirus didn’t stop when efforts to safeguard the health of the elderly began to pay off. He became something different and made the bodies of the young people take in, striking where he was exposed. A face, a scratch on the skin, a hand that has not been disinfected with antiseptic. And so all of a sudden, the admission of patients to hospitals skyrocketed irrationally, even more were added to ICUs, young, old, old, and ICUs collapsed. At 500 the intubated.

People in their 20s to 40s, like Trojan horses, brought evil home to unsuspecting mothers, fathers, and siblings. In ICU 27 years

Latest dramatic incident: a 27-year-old boy struggling to stay alive, intubated, in the Intensive Care Unit of the General Hospital of Aviation 251. He reportedly did not have any underlying disease or other health problems.

A few weeks ago, a 25-year-old from Tinos was served in Athens in a special capsule. She was healthy but contracted the coronavirus and was hospitalized in the Askplipio Intensive Care Unit.

In the ages 18 to 39, cases reached 32,573 on Thursday. In the immediately older age category, 40-64 years, the number of cases varies slightly: 32,408.

Collapse in the Intensive Care Unit

The situation is now in chaos and after the 10 ICU nurses from Crete, who have already started working at Hippocrates of Thessaloniki, their colleagues from all over Greece rush to help their colleagues from the co-capital, who are working in war conditions.

The toughest battle against the deadly virus is being fought in Thessaloniki, as of the 3,500 patients being treated in the country, more than 1,500 are in the city’s hospitals. The health forces, although they continue to fight each day more to care for the thousands of patients now in hospitals, they have already reached their limits.

Also in all of Macedonia, of the 1,204 existing covid-19 single beds, 895 are occupied, while now only 8 people will find an intensive care unit, as in 126 out of 134 someone is fighting for their life.

In total, in northern Greece, Macedonia and Thrace, 259 patients with coronavirus are treated by intubation in the ICU, while yesterday 160 admissions were made to hospitals in Thessaloniki.

Furthermore, despite the fact that in the last two days, 20 additional ICU covid beds were added to the Thessaloniki hospitals, reaching 211, of which not even 10 are available now.

Ultimatum in private clinics

According to information from MEGA, the ministry gave an ultimatum to private clinics, until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, to deliver 200 covid-19 beds immediately.

Otherwise, the ministry will proceed with a request.

Furthermore, the government spokesman, Stelios Petsas, had spoken about this possibility during the briefing of the political authors. “The addition of new beds in the ICU continues, while there is always availability to request – if necessary – beds in private clinics, hire additional medical staff and use available personnel with rapid training to be able to help our intensive care physicians.” It goes without saying that under conditions of war, like the one we are facing, the country functions as a single health district, “he said characteristically.

Trains to transport patients

In this context, TRAINOSE has been requested to help and have a train available in Thessaloniki to transport more Covid patients to a hospital in Attica. The train has already reached Thessaloniki and has six carriages.

The train consists of a total of four coach-type cars, a dining car and a coupe car, while it is located at the New Train Station in Thessaloniki, at a point where it will be easier and safer to transport patients.

New strict measures

The situation in the co-capital is deteriorating, and government spokesman Stelios Petsas attributes the fact that some people still behave more relaxed than conditions dictate.

Indeed, in northern Greece it is clear that there is still no question of lifting the blockade, as even today new measures were announced to limit the spread of the coronavirus.

• The land border at Krystallopigi closes starting tomorrow at 6:00 a.m. The borders of Kakavia, Evzoni and Promachonas remain open.
• Those who enter our country from the land border must undergo a rapid test, in addition to the molecular test that must be carried out 72 hours before arriving in Greece.

The new data for the treatment of the coronavirus pandemic in the country are created by the alarming high number of cases announced today by our country, since, as it seems, despite the 13 days of confinement, the epidemiological situation continues to be appalling .

It is not only the cases that still move in numbers above 3,000, it is the pressure in the ICU, which with each passing day sets a sad record. Indicative of the situation in the hospitals is that the intubated today reached a breath of 500. They increased one more day the number of deaths.

For the umpteenth consecutive day, Thessaloniki emerges as the “champion” of the cases, which is at an extremely critical juncture in terms of the evolution of the pandemic, at a time when dozens of nurses go daily to the co-capital looking for help.

Of the 3,227 cases announced by the National Public Health Organization in the last 24 hours, 774 are registered in Thessaloniki, while Attica is on alert with 646 cases.

The enormous dispersion observed in the country is worrying, since in addition to Attica and Thessaloniki, seven other areas register a triple-digit number of cases.

The new cases of coronavirus in Greece are one day closer to the negative record, at a time when deaths are particularly high, while intubated ones “reach” 500.

Specifically, EODY announced today 3,227 new cases of the deadly virus in the country, of which 11 were detected after controls at the country’s gateways.

Thus, the total number of cases is 85,261, of which 53.6% are men, while 4,725 (5.5%) are considered related to travel from abroad and 21,605 (25.3%) are related to a case already known.

In addition, 499 of our fellow citizens are being treated by intubation. Their average age is 65. 153 (30.7%) are women and the rest are men. 81.6% of intubated patients have an underlying disease or are 70 years or older. 427 patients have been discharged from the ICU.

Finally, we have 59 more registered deaths and 1,347 deaths in total in the country. 547 (40.6%) women and the rest men. The mean age of our dying fellow citizens was 80 years and 97.2% had an underlying disease and / or were 70 years or older.

Geographic dispersion

The map shows the geographical distribution of total COVID-19 cases (since the beginning of the epidemic) by Regional Unit of the country, based on the declared address of permanent residence of the patient, or the address of temporary residence for tourists and others temporary residents in Greece. It includes both cases with a travel history (“imported”) and cases with possible national transmission.
