Coronaios: The four reasons behind the nightmare – The plan for the next day

At a time when the coronavirus continues to “hit” the country, the government is trying to come up with a plan to return to normalcy.

This “operation” is the great bet of the prime minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis and as everything shows, it will be done with the dropper.

The government’s objective is to arrive safely until the vaccine arrives in our country and that is why it is preparing its plans for a gradual and, above all, careful exit from the confinement so that there are no setbacks.

In parallel, an information campaign on vaccination will be launched at the beginning of the year, which will last until March, so that as many people as possible are convinced to do so.

Cases are high despite the measures

The evidence of the spread of the coronavirus is worrying as the epidemiological burden remains high and the pressure on the health system is suffocating.

And this month, it is observed that new infections are reduced only on the days when fewer tests are carried out, while the situation in Hospitals remains marginal.

The confinement took another extension, and will last until December 14, but everything is fluid and everything depends on the course of the pandemic, which is of special concern to experts.

According to experts, the main reasons for the persistence of the number of cases and the epidemic in the country are: internal infections, the least restrictive measures currently in force in the face of spring, low temperatures and fatigue. population.

At the same time, Professor of Infectious Diseases and Pathology at the University of Patras, Charalambos Gogos, speaking on the “MEGA Weekend” program, stressed that there is a delay in the discharge of the epidemiological problem and especially in the north of Greece, since there was a great dispersion in the community. However, there is a clear reduction in cases nationwide, he argued.

Regarding the lifting of the measures, he pointed out that “we are not talking about the lifting of the measures, but about their organization.” “If we don’t see an improvement in the data in the hospitals, then we can’t talk about lifting the measures,” he added.

For his part, the AUTh professor of Environmental Engineering and specialist in mathematical models of epidemiological dispersion, Demosthenes Sarigiannis, presented the number of cases per week until the end of the year, noting that on December 22 they will have been reduced to 900 cases.

He points out that the fall in cases is slow and the opening of the market, according to these data, is premature.

According to Sarigiannis’ calculations, on December 8, cases will have reached 1,475 cases per day.

On December 15, the country will count 1,100 cases, while as highlighted in statements to SKAI, on December 22 the cases will have decreased to about 900 and by the end of the year to 770 cases.

The “exit plan”

Based on the unfavorable epidemiological picture that the country presents at this moment, government personnel are taking firm steps in the “exit plan”, while the extension of the quarantine until the beginning of January is not ruled out with short breaths that will give the opening of retail in view of Christmas and New Year.

Following the decision to open 110 seasonal stores across Greece starting Monday, December 7, the government is waiting for the “green light” to release the second line of the economy that includes hairdressers, toy stores, bookstores and florists.

Regarding the reopening of the market, the Minister of Development, Adonis Georgiadis, in statements to SKAI, stressed that “our objective is to open the market in stages to avoid a large crowd at the same time, the same day.”

“We are waiting for the green light from the Commission to open retail.” There is no time for them to open every week, they will open every 3-4 days, “he added.

“Obviously hairdressers, toys, bookstores and flower shops will precede it. “So, if everything goes well and we work with them open for 3-4 days and we see that things are under control and the measures are mainly observed, we will go to the rest of the retail trade,” he stressed. He clarified that he, as Minister of Development, plans to open all retail trade during the holidays, “because it is a great loss for a company not to work during this period.”

As you said, the malls in the tiered row are the last to open. The smaller stores will open first and then the larger ones. However, the shopping centers must also open the holidays ”, he clarified.
