The country announced a four-digit number of cases, after two days in which infections were significantly reduced, at a time when deaths increased greatly, “reaching” 100 again and intubated people remained constant, but in numbers very high.

It was a fact that the three-digit figures of new infections announced in the previous two days by EODY were not representative of the epidemiological situation in our country, since they were tests that were carried out on Saturdays and Sundays, where fewer tests are performed due to the weekend.

So today, when the controls returned to daily levels, the number of cases again exceeded 1,000. In any case, the scientists emphasize that to speak of a drop in cases, we should see cases reduced for about a week.

The EODY announcement

Specifically, today EODY announced 1,240 new cases of the new virus in the country, of which 14 were detected after controls at the country’s gateways.

Thus, the total number of cases is 126,372, of which 52.5% are men, while 5,143 (4.1%) are considered related to travel from abroad and 36,203 (28.6%) are related to an already known case.

In addition, 550 of our fellow citizens are treated by intubation. Their average age is 67 years. 166 (30.2%) are women and the rest are men. 77.5% of intubated patients have an underlying disease or are 70 years or older. 755 patients have been discharged from the ICU.

Finally, we have 98 more registered deaths and 3,785 deaths in total in the country. 1,512 (39.9%) women and the rest men. The mean age of our dying fellow citizens was 79 years and 95.6% had some underlying disease and / or were 70 years or older.
