A wave of bad weather has been advancing since the early hours of Saturday morning, with heavy rains in the continental center and heavy snowfalls in the central and northern mountains.

According to the network of automatic meteorological stations of the National Observatory of Athens / Meteo.gr, the highest precipitation until 15:00 on Saturday, was recorded in Agia Larissa with 39 mm in a period of approximately 12 hours. At the same time, heavy snowfalls occur in the central and northern mountainous parts.

Local showers and thunderstorms are forecast for Sunday in the west, center and north, as well as the northeast Aegean islands. The phenomena in northern Ionian and Epirus will be intense in some places and there is the possibility of local hail, while snowfall is expected in the central and northern mountains and in the early morning hours in the semi-mountains of western Macedonia. In the rest of the country, a temporary increase in some clouds is forecast. The atmospheric circulation favors the transport of dust from Africa, mainly towards the central and southern parts.

The temperature tomorrow will vary from 5 to 11 degrees in northern Greece (in western Macedonia from 1 to 5 degrees), from 9 to 18 degrees in central and southern Greece, from 11 to 25 degrees in western Greece (in Epirus of 9 to 18 degrees). , From 13 to 20 degrees in the Cyclades and up to 26 degrees in Crete, from 10 to 21 degrees in the islands of the East Aegean and the Dodecanese.

Winds will blow in the north Aegean from the northeast from strong to almost gusty 6-7 beauforts and in the rest of the Aegean from the southeast directions from moderate to strong 5-6 beauforts and locally in the central and southern Aegean winds almost gusty from east to 7 beauforts, 5-6 moderate to strong beauforts and temporarily in the south Ionian almost windy to 7-8 beauforts with wind and temporarily in the afternoon in the central and north Ionian from northwest directions with the same intensity.

Temporarily increased cloudy skies are expected with local rains in Attica, where the temperature will range between 12 and 18 degrees Celsius. The winds will generally blow from the east, moderate 4-5 beauforts and in the afternoon they will gradually turn south with the same intensity and in the south locally strong 6 beauforts.

In Thessaloniki, clouds with occasional rain are expected, where the temperature will oscillate between 7 and 11 degrees Celsius. The winds at Thermaikos will blow from varying directions, moderate 4-5 Beaufort.
