The mask deniers organized a new round of protest demonstrations, thankfully not as massive as the previous time, in parts of Greece.
Hours before the first bell of the year rang again, hundreds of conspiracy theorists rallied to protest masks in schools, as well as other “sprayed” theories.
However, this time there was little tension during the rally in Syntagma.
Specifically, shortly before 7:00 p.m., a group of protesters who was in the square tried to go to the monument of the Unknown Soldier. There, the police forces prohibited them from crossing, which generated little tension.
Finally, the group of protesters moved to the square, and the situation calmed down a little later.
Protest in Kilkis too
Today in Kilkis a protest march against the use of masks in schools took place.
According to the local website eidisis.gr, the meeting was called without the “signature” of an organism and mainly through the internet. In the end, about 180 people gathered in Plaza Irini and marched until June 21 to the City Hall and from there through Thessaloniki Street they ended up again in Plaza Irini.
Their main slogans were: “No muzzle for our children”, “No mask for schools, we want freedom”, “No evidence for our children”, “Hands off our children”, “No to kidnapping our children”. “If there is a pandemic, all the schools are closed.”
At the end of the protest, in Irini Square, the assembled people sang the national anthem and a 6-year-old boy sang “I believe,” according to the same publication.
During the entire march through the center of Kilkis, the protesters – who did not wear masks – were “accompanied” by police patrols and motorcycles, but there was no police intervention, nor was there a fine for restrictive measures against the pandemic.
It was canceled in Thessaloniki
On the other hand, the demonstration against the masks in Thessaloniki did not take place in the end.
The protest was scheduled for today at 18:30 at the statue of Alexander the Great.
According to the call, the demonstration would oppose both the use of a mask in schools and the possibility of mandatory vaccination against the coronavirus, but for unknown reasons it was not carried out.
