The 27 countries of the European Union will be able to “start the same day” vaccination campaigns against Covid-19, once the green light is given to the European regulatory authority for the vaccine developed by Pfizer-BioNTech, announced today the President of the Commission European Ursula von der Leyen.
Yesterday, the European Medicines Agency (EMA), under pressure from the Union, announced that it was speeding up the Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine meeting by 8 days. So instead of the December 29 that he was scheduled to meet, he postponed the date to the 21 of the month.
“Eventually, within a week, the first vaccine will be approved, so vaccines can start right away … it’s a huge undertaking,” he told the European Parliament.
“So let’s start this vaccination campaign as soon as possible, twenty-seven, starting the same day,” he added.
