Closed stores and a 6 p.m. curfew will go into effect this weekend as part of a lockdown to limit the spread of the coronavirus.
In more detail, the new measures, which will be in force until February 15, are as follows:
- Every Saturday and Sunday the transfer is done only by SMS and for the 6 reasons that accompany its use and only until 6 in the afternoon. The traffic ban for Saturdays and Sundays begins at 6 pm and is valid until 5 am.
- Suspension of the live functioning of the Lyceums and the functioning of the other school levels and kindergartens with physical presence.
- Retail exploitation and activities that until now had only been opened using the click away method. Hairdressers, barbers, beauty centers as well as dietetic services and diet units, personal hygiene and body care services, but also the KTEO and OPAP agencies operate normally, with the terms and measures already in force. Both retail and these stores and services, it is clarified that they will operate from Monday to Friday from 7 am to 8 pm only. They are closed on Saturdays.
- On Saturday only supermarkets, grocery stores, bakeries, gas stations and pharmacies remain open and only from 7 in the morning until 5 in the afternoon.
- It is clarified that the operation of public markets is also suspended on weekends. The specific provision relating to public markets will be valid from next weekend (February 13-14).

Five areas in hard blocking
To date, five municipalities in the country are in a severe blockade due to the increase in cases. These are the municipalities of Thira, Mykonos, Patras, Agios Nikolaos of Crete and Chalkida.
The following will apply to these areas beginning Saturday:
- The operation of the retail trade, hairdressers, barbers, beauty centers as well as dietetic services and dietetic units, personal hygiene and body care services, but also KTEO and OPAP agencies are suspended.
- Only supermarkets, grocery stores and pharmacies remain open.
- The lively operation of schools of all levels and kindergartens is also suspended. The schools will operate with the distance education method. It should be noted that primary schools and kindergartens will continue to operate in the municipalities of Mykonos and Thira only, due to the non-detection of mutations, but also to the special characteristics of the causes of the spread of the virus on these islands.
- Travel to and from the municipalities is minimized: entry and exit from these five municipalities is only allowed for work purposes.
- The functioning of the Courts is also suspended.
- Nor is it allowed to carry out any type of services and rituals in the presence of believers in places of worship, except for funerals, as well as individual prayer.
- In addition, given the findings of the scan, construction activity in these areas is suspended for the next 15 days.
