The epidemiological panorama of the different countries was re-evaluated by the Epidemiological Surveillance and Control of Infectious Diseases Unit of the Medical Services and Public Health Services, in relation to the COVID-19 disease. The evaluation was based on the epidemiological indicators of the countries, such as: their real reproduction number R

Third countries: 1) Australia, 2) Japan, 3) New Zealand, 4) South Korea, 5) Singapore, 6) Thailand

Countries with an actual reproductive number (Rt) of less than 1 and / or a small number of new diagnoses (<1 / 100,000 inhabitants per day) and / or low or very low mortality from COVID19 have been classified in this category (<5-10/100,000 κατοίκους) ή/και ταξινόμηση σποραδικών περιπτώσεων (sporadic cases) ή συστοιβάδων περιπτώσεων (cluster of cases) κατά τον ΠΟΥ ή/και τουλάχιστον ικανοποιητικό εργαστηριακό έλεγχο (>3000 tests / 100,000 inhabitants).

Category B: countries with potentially low risk but with more doubts compared to category A

• United Kingdom
• Members of the Schengen area: 1) Norway
• Small states: 1) Vatican City, 2) San Marino
• Third countries: 1) Uruguay, 2) China (including Hong Kong and Macao), 3) Rwanda, 4) Serbia

Countries with a real reproductive number (Rt) greater than 1 and / or a number of new diagnoses> 1 / 100,000 inhabitants per day and / or higher mortality from COVID-19 (> 10 / 100,000 inhabitants) and / or laboratory tests Limited are classified in this category. (<2000 tests / 100,000 inhabitants) or lack of WHO classification. It should be noted that passengers from category B countries must undergo a laboratory test within 72 hours prior to departure and have a certificate proving a negative PCR test for the virus. It is also clarified that passengers from category B countries belonging to the following categories can undergo molecular examination upon arrival in the Republic:

a) Cypriot citizens and members of their families (their foreign spouses, minor children and their parents),
b) all those who legally reside in the Republic,
(c) persons entitled under the Vienna Convention;
d) persons, regardless of their nationality, in the country of residence from which no laboratory analysis service (public or private) is provided, to whom they wish to travel to the Republic of Cyprus and with prior relevant notification.

It is observed that the cost of the test is covered by them and also these people must remain under house arrest until the result is issued.

Category C: countries with higher risk compared to categories A and B.

• Member States of the European Union: 1) Austria, 2) Belgium, 3) Bulgaria, 4) France, 5) Ireland, 6) Croatia, 7) Luxembourg, 8) Romania, 9) Spain, 10) Italy, 11) Malta, 12) Netherlands, 13) Hungary, 14) Poland, 15) Portugal, 16) Slovakia, 17) Slovenia, 18) Czech Republic
• Small states: 1) Andorra, 2) Monaco
• Members of the Schengen area: 1) Switzerland, 2) Iceland, 3) Liechtenstein
Third countries: 1) Algeria, 2) Morocco, 3) Montenegro

This category also includes those countries that are not included in categories A or B. Some of the high-risk countries according to their epidemiological picture are mentioned above.

According to the Decontamination Decree (No. 30) of 2020, only certain categories of citizens can enter the Republic from category C countries that have the opportunity to choose to undergo a diagnostic test for the COVID-19 disease upon arrival. to Cyprus or have a COVID-19 RT-PCR certificate with a negative result within 72 hours prior to departure. It is also noted that according to the Decree of the Minister of Health, No. 37, dated August 12, 2020, citizens arriving from Category C countries must undergo a molecular test for COVID-19 on their own, 48 hours before the end of its self-control, which expires on 14 days. The result of the lab test should be sent to [email protected]. Self-limitation is understood to end on day 14 and if the repeat lab test result is negative.

It is emphasized that all passengers, regardless of country category, must apply for the CyprusFlightPass within 24 hours prior to their flight departure. In addition, in order to ensure public health and surveillance of the epidemiological picture, a COVID-19 sample molecular laboratory test will be performed on passengers of selected arrival flights.

It should be noted that the above country classification will be valid from November 9, 2020.
