“If there are complaints about large concentrations in houses at Christmas, the police will intervene,” said Civil Protection Minister Michalis Chrysochoidis.

On SKAI radio, Mr. Chrysochoidis was adamant about the implementation of strict controls by the police, in the context of implementing measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus during the holidays.

He clarified that mobility in a plaza or other meeting places will not be allowed, at the same time that he stressed that from 22:00 pm there will be no one on the streets.

The measure applies to all holidays. The only ones excluded from the measure are ambulances. “There will be no soul in the streets,” he said characteristically.

According to Mr. Chrysochoidis, on Christmas Day and until 22:00 at night, citizens will be able to celebrate with their families, but strictly up to 9 people.

Speaking previously on Open TV, Mr. Chrysochoidis reiterated that “traffic is prohibited. Nobody has any reason to go out at night. We have to stay in our houses.” If someone decides to have a New Years Eve party or a gathering at their houses, it is obviously such a thing will be a disaster, “he said.

He added that “the police were on their way to deal with the coronavirus. We all realize that there is fatigue. Avoid overcrowding. Where there is congestion, there is disaster.

“Whenever there is a celebration, it is a knife to the health of our fellow citizens. We have to solve this equation since we don’t celebrate Easter, naming days, etc. Christmas will be different this year. We are not Sherlock Holmes, but we will do our job to smile back. We smiled again. “The vaccine is hope,” he said.

The third wave of the coronavirus will be catastrophic. We must avoid it ”, he concluded.
