The Chora Monastery, known today as Kariye Müzesi, was a Byzantine Christian monastery in Constantinople which was converted by the Ottomans into a mosque in 1511.
Since 1958 it functioned as a museum. The monastery was built in its place Edirne Gate, outside the Theodosian walls (in present-day Edirne Kapi district), south of Horn Bay.
