China has increased the risk of an epidemiological outbreak in Uhan district following the discovery of a Covid-19 case, the first in more than a month in the city since the outbreak.
This great metropolis of approx. 11 million inhabitants, which had been in quarantine for more than two months since January, paid a particularly high price for the virus, infecting nearly 83,000 people and causing 4,633 victims across the country, according to official figures.
While Uhan had not registered a new infection since April 3, a new case was identified in the city, the National Health Commission said.
This is a man 89 years old, a resident of the Dongshikhu area in the northwestern part of Uhan, local authorities said.
The level of epidemiological risk in the district has increased from “low” to “medium,” they said.
Uhan is considered a “low” risk area after quarantine uprising on April 8 and activity in the city has gradually returned.
High school students returned to school on Wednesday, all wearing masks and adhering to strict health measures, four months forced leave by the virus
In addition to the incident in Uhan, China has announced 13 new cases Covid-19 in its territory. This is the first time since May 1 that the country has announced a double-digit increase in the number of infections in a 24-hour period.
Most new cases are found in northeast section from the country, where the city of Sulan was quarantined.
Yesterday, China acknowledged that the pandemic had revealed “gaps” in China’s health system and the prevention of infectious diseases. These statements were made amid criticism from the President of the United States Donald Trump v. China for handling the colonial crisis.
