The technological equipment amounting to 112 million euros to 560,000 young people through a bonus of 200 euros will be provided by the Ministry of Education with income criteria to families.
The new program, with a budget of 112 million euros, of the Ministries of Finance, Development and Investment, Education and Religions, Labor and Social Affairs and Digital Governance, provides a bonus of 200 euros for each student, student income and social criteria for the purchase of technological equipment (tablet, laptop, desktop).
Leveraging the wealth of e-learning during the COVID-19 health crisis and as part of our strategic planning for further digital transformation of education, enhancing the digital skills of the educational community and empowering our vulnerable citizens2, the Government is investing in 11 million for the purchase of technological equipment for students and students.
It should be noted that, in terms of the implementation schedule, the program is one of the first projects at European level to use the funds from the Recovery Fund. The estimated number of beneficiaries amounts to approximately 325,000 families with 560,000 young people between the ages of 4 and 24. The beneficiaries will be all families with an equivalent family income of up to 6,000 euros, that is, all families benefiting from the OPEC child allowance in the first income category. Equivalent family income is defined based on annual family income, the number of children per family, and whether a family is single parent or not.
According to the Ministry of Education, the program aims to contribute, substantially, to the long-term strengthening of the digital skills of the educational community and to the achievement of an inclusive digital educational model. The experiential familiarization of the educational community with new technologies is a horizontal cut, necessary even after the pandemic has passed. Therefore, we draw on the wealth of e-learning to emerge stronger from this crisis. This program is part of our global strategy for digital transformation in education, which includes important investments in the radical updating of public networks and information systems, strengthening the technological equipment of all educational structures and improving their connection with the Internet, training programs for teachers and trainers for the use of digital educational tools, and the creation of extensive digital educational material in the context of curricular reform. Participation in the digital transformation of education must concern all young men and women.
The Ministry of Education and Religions is launching the promulgation of a Law Provision on the specific program, according to which its implementation will be carried out by “Sociedad de la Información SA”, which will develop a specialized platform. Detailed instructions on implementing the program will be posted soon.
