Chaos has been imposed in the last hours in Vienna, where parallel attacks took place in different parts of the Austrian capital.
The “battles” continue and many of the militants remain missing until now, according to authorities. “They are heavily armed and dangerous,” Austrian Interior Minister Carl Nehammer said at dawn.
“We have brought in many special forces units and now they are looking for suspected terrorists. “I am not restricting the area of investigations in Vienna because these are mobile perpetrators,” he told the ORF channel, urging citizens to stay indoors until they are younger.

So far, the police have officially confirmed that several perpetrators fired shots in six different parts of the city and that there were deaths and injuries. Austrian leader Sebastian Kurtz has called for a “terrible terrorist attack”, adding that the armed forces would take over some of the operations, allowing the police to focus on their counter-terrorism movements.

At 12:30 am (Greek time) Nehamer confirmed that The fighting still rages between the police and some of the terrorists. Videos and amateur photographs show gunmen shooting in cold blood at civilians and, elsewhere, handing over half-naked men to armored police officers.

At least one civilian and one terrorist were shot dead, according to an Interior Ministry spokesman. However, local media raise the unofficial report even to the eight dead. There is information about a hostage in a restaurant, which has not been officially confirmed. The Kronen Zeitung reports that a man exploded after an armed attack near a synagogue in central Vienna.

The Czech police announced that they have started random checks on the border with Austria, after the bloody attacks in Vienna. “The police are carrying out random checks and crossings of vehicles on the Austrian border as a precautionary measure in relation to the terrorist attack in Vienna,” Czech police said.
Leaders from around the world express their condolences and support for Austria. Among them are French President Emanuel Macron, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and European Council President Charles Michel.
