Chania: a 14-month prison sentence for the father of a student who assaulted a HELLAS teacher

A 40-year-old father of a high school boy who committed violence against a teacher in Chania was sentenced to 14 months in prison.

Specifically, a sentence of 14 months in prison with a three-year suspension, which will be applied if the convicted person pays the amount of 400 euros to the 2nd Eleftherios Venizelos Secondary School as a donation for public purposes, was imposed today by the Court of Unique Minor Crimes in Chania, where the 40-year-old father of a specific high school student who committed violence against a school teacher on Monday morning, when the victim of the attack did not allow the inmate’s son to enter the school without the coronavirus protective mask.

In her testimony, the teacher who accepted the attack referred to what happened and stressed that when she urged the 40-year-old to use the mask to enter school, she received a spoon and a kick from the child’s father. In her apology, the defendant told the court that she regretted her behavior, claiming that she did not express it, since, as she said, she is not a violent person.

In her speech, the prosecutor stressed that the accused confessed the facts and pointed out that no one has the right to swear and react in this way but also to threaten, especially in front of children, and suggested his guilt.

The 40-year-old man sat in the chair facing accusations of causing bodily harm, insulting and threatening the teacher. The teachers had rallied outside court in support of their colleague, demanding punishment from the father who assaulted the teacher.
