“Cesme” in the Aegean EL DIARIO

The Turkish research ship “Cesme” sails in the Aegean Sea, while its location does not appear on the geolocation websites, which means that its transmitter is closed. It should be noted that the “Cesme” is a ship that belongs to the Turkish Navy and not to the Turkish Oil Company. Therefore, it is unusual for warships to have the transmitter open.

Athens closely follows the course of “Cesme”, which yesterday afternoon left the Dardanelles for the area that has been committed to the investigation until March 2.

The instructions to manage the theme are clear and go in the direction of low tones, since it is absolutely clear that at this stage Turkey is consumed in companies that aim to create a climate at home. Although there is no news on the date of the 62nd round of exploratory contacts scheduled to take place, it is a fact that it will take place after March 3.

Greece, however, responded to Turkey with a cautious step, crafted to highlight Ankara’s basic irregularity in relation to “Cesme’s” journey in the North Aegean. NAVTEX is denounced as invalid and illegal in the action and verbal declaration issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as it was issued by the Smyrna station of the Turkish hydrographic service for an area outside its competence.

However, it is considered that Ankara will carry out its research program normally as announced. The prevailing climate in Turkey is demonstrated by the statements of the representative of the Justice and Development Party (AKP) Omer Celik, who attacked Greece and Cyprus and threatened both countries, stressing that “if they have maximalist dreams, Turkey will turn into nightmares.”

Analysts from the neighboring country assure that there is no illegality on the part of Turkey for the scientific investigation of “Cesme”, which will be carried out at sea level.
