The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) today updated its guidelines for Covid-19, saying it can sometimes be transmitted through the air.
According to the announcement, some infections may be due to exposure to the virus in droplets or aerosols that remain in the gas for minutes or hours.
This update acknowledges published reports that there were some limited and unusual circumstances in which people infected with Covid-19 infected others more than 2 meters away or that some became infected shortly after a new positive coronavirus. The man had left where they were.
In these cases, the CDC noted that the transmission occurred indoors in poorly ventilated areas where activities that caused people to gasp (for example, singing or exercising) were carried out.
Last month, the CDC posted a directive on its website, but downloaded it almost immediately, speaking of a possible airborne transmission of the new coronavirus.
