“In light of Canada’s strict export control regime and in light of ongoing hostilities, I have suspended the relevant export licenses to Turkey to allow time for a better examination of the situation,” said the Foreign Minister, François-Philippe Sampani, in a statement. of.
The minister recalled that he had ordered an investigation following allegations that Canadian technology was being used in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

According to the allegations, Azerbaijan is using drones, manufactured by the Turkish company Baykar, in clashes that have been going on for more than a week in Nagorno-Karabakh.
Canada suspended military exports to Turkey a year ago following Ankara’s military intervention in northern Syria against Kurdish rebels. In May, however, exports resumed.
“We call for immediate action to stabilize the situation and reiterate that nothing can replace a peaceful negotiated solution,” he said.
