Police opened fire on a 48-year-old man who was holding a woman hostage, according to French media.
Three policemen were killed and another injured in a shooting on Wednesday (12/23) in central France, local media reported.
According to bfmtv.com, they arrived at a home near Saint-Just after being notified of an incident of domestic violence. There, a 48-year-old man was holding his wife hostage and when the police were noticed, the woman took refuge on the roof of the house.
Police tried to save the woman, and the man fatally shot one of them and then set the house on fire.
The man then continued shooting, with two more Authority men killed and one wounded in the thigh, who was rushed to Ambert Hospital.
According to “Le Parisien”, the operation to arrest the man is underway, with Special Forces (GIGN) men on the scene.
According to the French news agency (AFP), the woman is in good health, while the perpetrator was “reported” to the authorities for other acts in the past.
