Today the negative record in the number of daily cases was broken, confirming on the one hand the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic in our country, on the other hand the effectiveness of the measures implemented by the government to stop the coronavirus.
Specifically, today 508 new cases of the virus were announced in the country, of which 64 are associated with known outbreaks. In recent days there has been a steady increase in new infections, as announced:
- 280 cases on 10/11/2020
- 295 cases on 10/12/2020
- 408 cases on 10/13/2020
- 436 cases on 10/14/2020
- 453 cases on 10/15/2020
- 508 cases on 10/16/2020
According to the data, the total number of cases in the last week reached 2,686, with the average week being 383 infections per day.
According to the deputy spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, Gika Majorkini, 227 of the 508 new cases were detected in Attica and 63 in Thessaloniki.
At the same time, 81 of our fellow citizens are being treated by intubation, while another 8 deaths were registered in the last 24 hours.
It is also recalled that as of today the blockade in Kozani began to be implemented, since said Regional Unit is at level 4 due to the increase in the epidemiological burden.

Today we announced 508 new cases of the new virus in the country, of which 64 are associated with known outbreaks and 12 were detected after controls at the country’s gateways. The total number of cases is 24,450, of which 55.6% are men.
3,454 (14.1%) are considered to be related to trips from abroad and 9,893 (40.5%) are related to an already known case.
81 of our fellow citizens are being treated by intubation. Their average age is 67 years. 24 (29.6%) are women and the rest are men. 95.1% of intubated patients have an underlying disease or are 70 years or older. 255 patients have been discharged from the ICU.
Finally, we have 8 more deaths registered and 490 deaths in total in the country. 184 (37.6%) women and the rest men. The mean age of our deceased fellow citizens was 79 years and 96.3% had an underlying disease and / or were 70 years or older.
