There may not be an SMS limit to 13033 to leave the house during closing, but citizens should note that it cannot be used recklessly.

In this context, the government spokesman, Stelios Petsas, revealed that “last night after 9 o’clock it was found that more than 1 million sms were sent for the transport of physical sports.”

He added that “this is an attempt to circumvent the measures and in that evaded they will find us face to face and the controls will be very strict.”

“Instead of paying fines, we ask everyone to follow the experts’ instructions to come out of quarantine an hour early,” Petsas said.

Lock and move

As revealed by the Secretary General for Commerce and Consumer Protection, Panagiotis Stampoulidis, SMS in 13033 may not have a specific limit, however the system has the ability to detect mobile phone numbers that send a text message for many movements.

In these cases, the system can say “no” and “deny” the output to the sender.

“There is no limit as a process, but if the system sees that you move many times, it will isolate you,” said the Secretary General of Commerce.

At the same time, in statements to ANT1, he clarified that if a citizen sends a message to 13033 and does not receive a response, then before leaving his home he must send a message again until he receives a response.

Not receiving a reply may be because at that time, in the specific area, there are many messages.

However, you need to have the 13033 response on your mobile phone to be able to move, otherwise you risk a fine.

The SMS must be in the form of:

X [κενό], name and address of residence

where X is the output relation to the number 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, which corresponds to the following ratios:

  • Go to a pharmacy or visit a doctor, if recommended after contact.
  • Go to an operational store for basic necessities (supermarket, mini-market), where it is not possible to send them.
  • Go to the bank, to the extent that electronic transaction is not possible.
  • Move around to help people in need or to accompany younger students to school.
  • Attend a funeral under the conditions provided by law or go to divorced parents or those who are in a dimension that is necessary to ensure communication between parents and children, in accordance with current provisions.
  • Physical exercise in the open air or movement with pets, individually or as a couple, observing in the latter case the necessary distance of 1.5 meters.

You will receive in response:

Movement [κενό] X [κενό], name and address of residence

The service is available from mobile phones with a SIM card from mobile phone providers operating in Greece (Cosmote, Vodafone GR, Wind). To use the 13033 service, citizens with a device that has a SIM network card abroad can obtain a prepaid connection at the providers’ points of sale. It is recalled that the use of the service 13033 is free.

The 13033 messages refer exclusively to the confirmation of an exceptional movement. 13033 does not send messages that refer to the installation of the software or to a website other than forma.gov.gr.
