In addition to the surcharge, fictitious dismissals and other “tricks” have been identified, according to the report, in order to avoid the payment of compensation and other obligations to the Tax Agency.
Giuseppe Maria Bartomeu, in a speech at a journalism awards ceremony on February 19, had admitted to contacting the company, but denied any illegal activity, stressing that it had ordered the termination “as soon as negative comments were received” .
The judge must now decide whether the corruption resulted in the enrichment of Bartomeu individually or the members of the Board as a whole. The reaction within the team is expected to be interesting.
