After the Gymnasiums and Lyceums, the Ministry of Education decided to close primary schools, kindergartens, kindergartens and nurseries without giving sufficient explanations for the implementation of the new measure. The scientific community that appears to be used as an “alibi” to justify another setback is divided.

The doors of primary schools as well as kindergartens and nurseries are “sealed” from Monday (11/16) and from Wednesday (11/18) e-learning and educational television will return. The decision to close schools was announced on Saturday morning by the Ministers of Education and Health, with the narrative, this time, that it has to do with restricting the mobility of parents and teachers.

Distance education and educational television.

As announced by Education Minister Niki Kerameos, the primary school will operate remotely with distance education and educational television via ERT2, where classes for primary school students will be broadcast.

In particular, the Minister announced the following:

  • From the morning of Monday, November 16, 2020, at 9 am it will start broadcasting TV ERT2 lessons for elementary students. The program of these courses will be announced on Sunday (11/15).
  • Starting next Monday, the management of each school, in collaboration with the teachers, will prepare a distance learning program and take the necessary tests. According to the Minister of Education, distance education will start on Wednesday, after the school holidays on November 17.
  • Distance education will be compulsory, each teaching hour will last 30 ‘-according to the pertinent suggestion of the Educational Policy Institute- and will take place from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. for primary schools, and from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. 20 for kindergartens, including short ten-minute breaks.

According to the minister, the lunch / afternoon schedule was chosen for two main reasons: on the one hand, to facilitate families, either because they have older children who will have distance education in the morning or because their parents work remotely, and also all use devices for remote work or education, on the other hand, to limit the simultaneous use of all networks by students, students, employees, etc.

The government official deliberately avoided mentioning the fiasco with the collapse of Cisco’s e-learning platform earlier this week.

The minister, Vassilis Kikilias, affirmed that the relevant decision was based on “the intense mobility reasonably observed by parents who send their children to and from school, as well as grandparents, teachers, administrative personnel” and added that “the reduction in traffic and the faithful observance of the other measures can lead to a reduction of cases “.

Μόνο Now only special education units at all levels will remain open, as announced.
