The political crisis in Armenia is well advanced and the country’s security services have announced that they have prevented an assassination attempt on Prime Minister Nicole Pasinian by her political opponents. The situation remains tense following Pasinyan’s decision to sign a painful agreement with Azerbaijan that ends the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh.

According to the National Security Service (NSS), the suspect is a resident of Syunik province “who has anti-government views and does not agree with the prime minister’s foreign and domestic policy.”

According to the APE-MPE, this man was in possession of a large quantity of weapons, ammunition and explosives. In fact, he allegedly reached an agreement with the party leaders of Armenia and Artsakh (ss as the Armenians call Nagorno-Karabakh) to seize power by overthrowing Pasinyan.

According to the NSS statement, party leaders, anti-government politicians and their supporters, as well as former high-ranking officials, were plotting “an attack on a politician and the usurpation of power.”

The government has already warned against any attempt to topple him with anti-government protesters who opposed the agreement that stipulates that Azerbaijan will retain the territories and territories it has occupied in recent conflicts. Armenia is also being asked to hand over the territories it possesses outside the Nagorno-Karabakh borders.

Meanwhile, uprooting scenes unfold in the Nagorno-Karabakh territories, which until now were inhabited by Armenians, and since Sunday (11/15) are under Azeri control.

In recent days, Armenians fleeing villages to be handed over to Azeris have set their homes on fire before heading to Armenia.
