The Naval Hydrographic Service station in Heraklion, Crete, issued an anti-Navtex on the occasion of the new illegal NAVTEX issued yesterday, Monday, by Turkey for the research vessel “Oruts Reis”.
The anti-NAVTEX emphasizes that the Turkish NAVTEX is invalid, it has been issued by an unauthorized service, and the Turkish activity is illegal as it refers to an area within the Greek continental shelf.
Shortly after midnight, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement announcing that: “Turkey continues to faithfully fulfill its role of unrest and instability in the region. Ignore calls for dialogue and increase your challenges. Get caught in the deadlocks of your own decisions. Undermine security and stability in the region by forcing the international community to act.
Greece is not blackmailed. Based solely on International Law, International Maritime Law and Good Neighbor Regulations, it will continue to seek agreements to delimit its maritime zones with all countries in the region. “We ask Turkey to distance itself from the daily deceptions in which it engages and to work for the security and stability of the region.”
It is recalled that on Monday evening, Turkey issued a new NAVTEX for the research vessel “Oruts Reyes”, with the new directive valid until 12 September. It should be noted that this is the third consecutive renewal of the ship’s operational activities through NAVTEX, since last Thursday it was extended for the second time until yesterday.
