Athens City Council: 1,180 new bicycle parking spaces – On main roads [εικόνες] | HELLAS

The City Council of Athens is creating 1,180 new parking spaces, exclusively for motorcycles, in the center and in the neighborhoods of the city.

As part of the global effort that is carried out daily to organize the capital, the best possible traffic and without obstacles in it and the improvement of the quality of life of citizens.

The new seats have been located and are formed with a horizontal line on the asphalt and signs on the sidewalk, while they are positioned so that they do not impede the free movement of vehicles. They are located on the main roads, around the historic center of Atenas and the Grand Promenade, as well as in its busy neighborhoods that face unregulated parking problems, so that drivers can park their motorcycles easily and legally, without creating problems for pedestrians. or risk being fined.

The new parking spaces for motorcycles that are delivered to citizens are in addition to the approximately 1,600 parking spaces that already exist and create better accessibility conditions for everyone and especially for those who need them most. In total, there are now more than 2,200 bicycle parking spaces in the city center and about 2,800 in total in Athens, while during this period 22 parking spaces for People with Disabilities (PWD) vehicles were created in the center.

Specifically, the bicycle seats demarcated in five of the seven Municipal Communities are the following:

• 1st Municipal Community: 628 places in Karneadou, Herodotou, Neof. Paparrigopoulou, Old Patras Germanou and Kolokotroni.

• 2nd Municipal Community: 146 squares in Kononos, Ifikratous, Zinodotou, Pyrrou, Krisila, Empedokleous, Archimidous, Archelaou streets
• Third municipal community: 90 squares in the streets Iakhou, Agioi Asomaton, Trion Hierarch, Achaea
• 6th municipal community: 160 places in the streets Fokionos Negri, Thira, Mithymni, Lelas Karagianni, Sikinou, Tenedou, Sporades
• 7th Municipal Community: 156 places in the streets of Evros, Thebes, Lycaonia, Feidippidou, Trikala, Elena Venizelou, Alexandroupolis, Asia Minor, Tim. Vassos, Chatzikosta, Semitelou, Kerasountos, Lamasas

The location of additional positions in the fourth and fifth municipal communities will continue in the immediate future.

Bakoyannis: sidewalks can no longer be parking lots
