New US special mission speedboats located at the NATO base in Souda saw Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Mike Pompeo up close on Tuesday during their tour of the Souda base.

The Prime Minister of Greece together with the Secretary of State of the United States met at KENAP where they had the opportunity to be briefed on the new speedboats and then boarded the heliport of the Greek frigate “Salamis”.

The arrival of the two men was announced over the frigate’s loudspeakers in Greek and English as they were greeted by a procession to pay their respects.

The expanded meeting of delegations at the 115th Battle Wing in Chania is currently underway, attended by Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Mike Pompeo.

On the Greek side, the meetings are attended by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias and Defense Nikos Panagiotopoulos, the Chief of Staff Konstantinos Floros and the Director of the Prime Minister’s Diplomatic Office, Ambassador Eleni Sourani.
Immediately afterwards, statements will be made to the media. And then the two politicians will have a working lunch at the prime minister’s paternal home.

In the afternoon, the Prime Minister and the Secretary of State of the United States will visit the archaeological site of Aptera in the presence of the Minister of Culture Lina Mendoni.

During yesterday’s briefing of political authors, government spokesman Stelios Petsas highlighted, among other things, that “the visit of the US Secretary of State, the second visit in just one year, reflects the key role which plays Thessaloniki as the development center of the Balkan region and on the other hand Souda for geostrategic planning in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East ”.
