American journalist killed shortly after arrival in Turkey

An American journalist, Andre Wilczek, was found dead in a rented car on Tuesday, shortly after his arrival in Istanbul, according to Turkish security sources.

Approaching a hotel in the Karakioi area, coming from Samsun province in a car with a hired driver at the wheel, Rossi Indira Vilcek noticed that her husband was not moving.

He called first aid and doctors confirmed the death of the journalist, according to sources who asked not to be identified.

Istanbul prosecutors have launched an investigation into his death.
