Police from the Department of Cultural Heritage and Antiquities raided the house of Alimos, 44, on Wednesday morning (05/13/2020) after the information that antiquities were found inside.
Police knew that the archaeologist was looking for buyers to sell a rare collection of ancient coins. The information was confirmed, as the police located in his possession:
-352 coins from Greek, Roman, Byzantine and medieval antiquity,
-1 Indian silver coin,
-1 silver fragment of an ancient Greek coin, possibly a Jewish coin,
-2 ancient silver drachmas of the Cappadocian kings,
-8 ancient Greek bronze coins from the Hellenistic era,
-2 late copper coins – Roman times,
-2 copper coins from the Byzantine era,
-4 silver coins from Roman times,
-4 late copper coins – Roman times,
-3 copper coins from the Byzantine period,
-7 paper coin boxes with handwritten descriptions of old coins,
-8 sheets of paper of various sizes, which are dates and names printed and handwritten by Roman, Byzantine and medieval kings and kings,
-16 sheets of paper with descriptions of currencies and prices.
