ISTANBUL – ANSWER: Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar raised the issue of “gray areas” in the Aegean and stated that there are islands whose sovereignty has not been granted to Greece.
In his speech to the Turkish Aerospace Industry (TUSAS), Akar referred to the work of Oruts Reyes and said that “we are doing a clear job, it is obvious. We do not hide anything. We carry out scientific and technical work. Our ships continue their work. It is immoral to present these tasks as a challenge or as an increase in intensity. It has nothing to do with ethics. They overlook the movements and actions they carry out on islands that have by no means been given dominance in Greece, and they present the technical and scientific work we do as a challenge. That is not appropriate in a good neighborhood. “
Akar also referred to the Cyprus issue and stressed that “in Cyprus they must see and accept the presence of the Turks that has lasted many centuries. They must grant them their rights. In matters of equality and sovereignty, the present treaties must accept it.”
