Mr. president,
I follow his statements with surprise Sofia Bekatorou, according to I allegedly sexually abused her 23 years ago.. Today I was informed for the first time and, as I have already said, the complaint is false, defamatory and malicious. However, I fully understand that due to the great negative publicity the issue has received, the prestige of the Greek Olympic Committee, which must always be high for the sake of Greek sport, is very likely to be damaged. For that reason alone and with full awareness of my responsibility towards the EOE, I declare that from today until the full clarification of this case by the competent authorities I will stop participating in the meetings of the EOE bodies, of which I am a member and in general I will abstain from the exercise of my functions in any other position that I occupy in the Hellenic Olympic Committee.
