The last breath, at the age of 95, was left by the actress Daphne Skoura. His funeral will take place tomorrow Thursday in Mati, Attica.
Born in Athens, Daphne Skoura, on November 15, 1925, to a father from Central Greece and a mother from Asia Minor, she studied acting at the Marika Kotopouli School and then at the National Theater. He collaborated with many of the big names on the scene, such as: Nikos Hadjiskos, Vassilis Diamantopoulos, Mimi Fotopoulos, Lykourgos Kallergis, Manos Katrakis and others.
He also starred in many Greek cinema films, while participating in theatrical performances, television and radio productions.
Daphne Skoura was the wife of the National Resistance fighter, the lawyer Evangelos Macheiras. During the dictatorship he developed resistance actions, being a member of the “Lambraki Youth”. At the same time, he actively participated in the peaceful movement.
Farewell message from the KKE
In its announcement, the KKE sadly bids farewell to activist and great actress Daphne Skoura.
“From the age of thirteen she found herself in the world of theater, while still a student of Marika Kotopouli, and since then she has served theater and cinema with courtesy and a unique ethos, collaborating with the big names and giving unique interpretations, as in the works “Deep is the roots” and “Christ is crucified again”.
Throughout her life she was a popular activist, participating in the EAM Resistance during the years of occupation, in the Lambraki Youth and later in the anti-dictatorship struggle against the junta of colonels.
She was married to the lawyer Evangelos Macheiras, commander of the ELAS units in the Peloponnese, during the occupation, president of the Athens Bar Association, president of the Hellenic Commission for International Recession and Peace, president of the World Council for Peace.
We will always remember her for everything she offered people with her art and action, but also for her modesty and humility, which can be summed up in one of her phrases: “But I didn’t do anything. “I did what everyone else did.”
