A 91-year-old man from Ohio, USA, ended up in the hospital when he accidentally received two doses of the coronavirus vaccine on the same day.
Butler County resident Victor Smith was vaccinated with the first dose of the Moderna vaccine on Jan. 22, but then he felt tired, one of the vaccine’s known and transient side effects, and fell, according to newsweek.
Smith, who is disabled, was transferred to the hospital and several days later to a rehabilitation unit.
On February 25, the unit staff transferred him to a vaccine to receive the second dose of the vaccine as scheduled.
There was also a mess that resulted in the 91-year-old being given two doses in four hours. Usually 21 days should elapse between the two doses.
His daughter, Don Theodore, told WLWT that he probably mistook her father for another Victor. After receiving the extra dose, the elderly man suffered shock and was taken to hospital with respiratory problems and very low blood pressure.
“I don’t want anything like that to happen to anyone again,” he added. The 91-year-old coach has overcome the danger and is on the mend.
The rehabilitation unit announced its responsibilities to the agency that had carried out the vaccinations and announced that an investigation into the incident would be carried out.
