Giannis Seiradakis was an excellent scientist. He was professor of astrophysics at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

In 1985 he was elected associate professor in the Physics Department of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) and in 1995 he became a professor, since he held until his retirement on August 31, 2015. In December 2015, by decision of the Senate , was awarded the title. from professor emeritus of AUTh.
In 2011 he was elected Director of the Astronomy Laboratory, since he held until his retirement. He was one of the most expert in the anti-gate mechanism, both in Greece and internationally.
I. Seiradakis was a member of the international investigation team that spearheaded the recent investigation and overheating of interest in the Anticythera Mechanism. It is considered one of the most specialized for the Mechanism, both in Greece and internationally.
Since 2007 he has given more than 200 scientific or popular conferences in our country and abroad on the subject of the Anticitera Mechanism.
