Prisoner Vassilis Dimakis started a hunger strike on Monday (April 21, 2020) in addition to the hunger strike that has been going on for eight days (April 21), claiming that he will not be deprived of the right to continue his studies in the university where he was introduced as a prisoner.

The prisoner, Vassilis Dimakis, a third-year student in the EKPA Political Science Department, was punished because, along with other inmates at the Korydallos prison, he participated in a peaceful mobilization, abstaining from work, demanding the decongestion of the country’s prisons.

He started the strike reacting to “revenge”, as he characterizes it, his transfer from Korydallos prison, where he was until then, to Grevena, after his participation in the mobilization, while claiming not to be deprived of the right to continue his studies at the university where he was admitted as a prisoner

In his side lie institutions, organizations and teachers, who call on the authorities to solve the problem and not endanger the life of the detained student.

Among other things, or Petros Damianos, director of the prison juvenile school, posted a Facebook post that screamed in agony, calling for the hunger striker’s life to be cut short.

See the publication in detail:

Outside the Ministry of Citizen Protection with his lawyer Vassilis Dimakis, Mr. Thanassis Kampagiannis.

We leave without seeing the Secretary General for Crime Policy, Mrs. Sofia Nikolaou.

I understand the heavy schedule …

Also, what I wanted to tell you is summarized in two lines …

Vassilis Dimakis’s life hangs by a thread …

I stop fighting for the continuation of Vassilis’ studies … He is in second place … I AM A CHURCH FOR HIS LIFE.

For all …

It should be noted that Vassilis Dimakis is an excellent student who, despite difficulties, finished high school in Patras prison and then, reading on his own, managed not only to be admitted to the University but also to be selected as a fellow last year and this year.
