««We continue to support affected businesses and households.“Stresses the government through its representative, Stelios Petsas.
««It is already clear that the unprecedented health crisis will cause a major recession in Europe and around the world. And unfortunately, our country will not escape this recession. With these data, we are making concerted efforts so that, on the one hand, the consequences are reduced and, on the other hand, we return to significant growth rates as soon as possible. We move, for this purpose, with social sensitivity, with a full sense of responsibility, both at European and national level.
As for the community level, it is a fact that the last Summit took a significant step in the right direction. It was agreed that Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will present, before May 6, a plan for the Recovery Fund to support growth in the post-colonial era, as well as a revised Multiannual Financial Report. Framework for the period 2021-2027.
We have pointed out from the outset that at a time when European economies are characterized by relatively high total public and private debt, what is needed are more grants and fewer loans.
We believe that the differences of opinion between the countries that support loans and the countries that support subsidies may be overcome in the near future. “.
««At the national level, on the one hand, the government continues to support the actions of companies, workers and the unemployed, and on the other hand, it promotes the necessary reforms that will contribute to the restart of the economy.“The government spokesman concluded.
Support measures that have been implemented and are evolving:
- The payment of the 400 euro allowance to the long-term unemployed started yesterday. As of Friday afternoon, 73,000 long-term unemployed had registered on the platform, more than 43% of the beneficiaries. The special OAED platform for the long-term unemployed will remain open until May 3.
- Today, Tuesday, more than 105,000 employees in companies that have closed or been beaten will receive special compensation of 800 euros, with a total budget of 84 million euros. 686,000 employees have already been paid.
- Extends the granting of special purpose compensation to self-employed and self-employed workers and companies that do not employ employees or employ up to twenty employees, compared to the five previously provided.
- Today, Tuesday, April 28, special compensation applications of around € 500 million will be completed to 600,000 independent, independent and privately owned companies.
The process of sending payment orders will be completed on Thursday, April 30 and the beneficiaries will see the money in their bank account no later than Monday, May 4, depending on the operation of the banking payment systems (remember that on Friday May 1 is a bank holiday)
- At the same time, by Thursday, April 30, the 600 beneficiaries will have been paid.
- Within the next week (until May 8), companies will be paid the refundable advance of one billion euros.
This completes the payment of all aid for the first phase of the crisis, which covers more than 1.8 million workers, freelancers, scientists, freelancers and business owners.
Too:
- From the beginning of May, affected companies will have the opportunity to receive loans of up to 25% of their turnover from banks with a government guarantee.
- As part of family support policies, which are a priority for the government, emergency financial assistance is being paid to 63,900 households that already receive the Guaranteed Minimum Income and have at least one minor member. An additional 100 euros will be paid for the first child and 50 euros for each subsequent child, with a maximum of 300 euros for each beneficiary.
- The reduced-rate heating fuel distribution period runs until May 15, so citizens can take advantage of today’s low prices.
- The special permission granted to working parents runs until May 10.

Actions at reception and identification centers for refugees and immigrants in jails and prisons
The government spokesman made special reference to the actions of the State for special categories of the population.
“Since the restrictive measures were implemented, the government has taken additional measures for the Reception and Identification Centers and the structures where refugees and migrants are housed,” he said.
- First, the outputs have been reduced.
- Second, the Reception and Identification Centers have been strengthened with health stations and additional tents, so there is the possibility of isolation, if necessary.
- Third, as of May 31, the movement of even those who have obtained asylum has been restricted.
- Fourth, everything we try to communicate to citizens for their protection is translated into many languages, so that both refugees and immigrants are aware.
- It is also observed that the ATMs in the KYT of our islands are ready and operational from next week, in order to limit the movements of the population living in the structures.
In detention centers:
The increase in prison hygiene measures was a road race. In a place like prisons, where reducing cohabitation is not an option, no case of coronary heart disease has been reported.
This is because, from the first moment, the Government has taken very strict measures to face the coronation, which the detainees and the prison staff adopted, understanding their need.
Specifically:
- Visits were prohibited to protect prisoners and workers from infection.
- All transfers were stopped for the same reasons.
- An excellent 120-bed facility has been established in a building in Korydallos to receive possible cases, which fortunately remained empty and the detainees will then be transferred to it, thus reducing the number of detainees in other detention centers.
- Until the contracts for the purchase of masks and disinfectants were signed, there were agreements with the Red Cross that acquired prisons with these items during the first critical period of the health crisis, so valuable time was not lost.
- Disinfections and rodenticides: insecticides that had not been committed in the last five years.
- The detainees received personal hygiene items.
- Finally, new mattresses, pillows and bedding have been ordered which, once delivered, will solve a problem that has not been addressed for years. “
