I decided to write this article shocked by the hateful comments about my sudden waist surgery. I have seen how others have been treated, but when you experience it in a moment of pain and weakness it is shocking.
The incidents are as follows: 14 days ago I had a sudden pain in my leg that in the daily workload I did not pay much attention. I thought that with some painkillers it would pass. Although they advised me to do a magnetic constantly – bad very bad – I put it off. But suddenly I had a crisis that I had not imagined, my whole right side was paralyzed and the pain I was feeling and the feeling of weakness was terrible. They immediately took me to an MRI where they diagnosed the largest hernia the doctor had seen in my spine and immediately recommended surgery if I was a little late to lose my right leg. I did the pre-op exams right away and the surgery at KAT as an emergency.
What would our Society be expected to say to any fellow citizen who goes through this adventure? “Passing”, “iron”, “courage”, etc. words of sympathy anyway since the fate of all people is common and the health of each of us can be affected at any time. And fortunately you sent me thousands of such human words and thank you. But above all here on Facebook, the others prevailed … hatred, curses, lies. Supposedly it was someone else’s turn, etc. Here in the hospital where I am there are empty beds for emergencies that happen all the time and no one was deprived of surgery because of me. Emergency surgeries are not canceled for COVID, only regular surgeries have been postponed, that is, surgeries that the doctor says can be performed a little later without risk to the patient’s health so that there is more room for the virus. This happened all over the world, not just in Greece. But the regulars have nothing to do with emergencies that all but zero are treated normally. I challenge one of those who curses down here and you will surely find now, to write the name of a patient and a hospital that refused to operate in an emergency to send a prosecutor immediately. Pity!
I trusted the NSS – and of course I never fired any of their doctors as minister, another lie – and the doctor and hospital staff were impeccable and I thank them but they too were shocked by the hatred and lies. It is the first time that I have seriously considered whether it is worth letting this hatred and misery run on our pages. It is not her, it cannot be our Society and our fellow men. I refuse to believe it. Some outspoken fans of the game may sow hatred for political reasons and some naive may be seduced, but even so, when someone goes out for surgery in the middle of 4.5 hours, the last thing they want to do is read these abominations.

The reason I made it public was that before even leaving the operating room it had already leaked and Mr. Vaxevanis had begun to ask his questions – of course he has the right to ask … – and because the health of a politician with responsibilities is not a strictly personal issue but also a public one. At least that’s how I feel.
2. I don’t hold a grudge against anyone, but I ask you a question, do we, as a Society, deserve to endure all this? Do we deserve to let so much hatred poison our souls? Is there really such a person who wishes bad for the health of another because he does not like him or considers him a bad minister or political opponent?
3. I publish little and the softest thing on my page, you are free to see them and understand that something on the Internet is not going well.
I wish all patients the best and health because in the end, when the pain comes, everything else seems so, so insignificant.
