The Regional Governors of Central Macedonia, Western Greece and Western Macedonia sent a letter to the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, requesting an extraordinary grant of 5,000 euros for each company, following the decision of the government and experts to suspend the restart. until April 12.
Messrs. Ap. Tzitzikostas, Nek. Farmakis and G. Kasapidis, request the Prime Minister to provide, either by legislation or in the form of compensation per company and without criteria (billing / employees, etc.) an amount of at least 5,000 euros, in order to restore liquidity and coverage. part of expenses incurred in view of the previously announced lifting of restrictions “that were not suddenly implemented in our areas.”
Earlier, members of the Patras business world welcomed Deputy Interior Minister Stelios Petsas, who has traveled to the Achaean capital for consultations following reactions from the business world.
A part of those gathered, during the minister’s visit to the City Council, protested energetically demanding the opening of the stores.
Yesterday in a statement issued by the Patras trade association warned that in protest, merchants will open stores Monday but without serving customers.
The revocation of the decision that “freezes” the opening of retail and Thessaloniki was also requested by Trade Association “Unfortunately at the moment the commercial world of Thessaloniki and not only, is justifiably in a state of rage, to the point of not being controlled,” the statement said, adding that the commercial world “cannot understand how decisions change within 36 as a result of which businessmen state that they do not want to be disciplined in the government’s decision ”.
“I ask you to immediately revoke the previous decision, and to open the market of the city of Thessaloniki on Monday, April 5, 2021, as already announced by the government,” concludes ESTH President Pantelis Filippidis, concluding that retail trade ” It can not bear another extension, in fact, at the time that it has no responsibility for the increase in cases ”.
The letter of the three governors
In their letter, the three regional governors of Achaia, Thessaloniki and Kozani state:
Honorable Prime Minister,
As you know, the Regional Units of Thessaloniki, Acaya and Kozani are in a state of very high risk, so measures have been imposed for the total suspension of all commercial activities (retail), before similar measures are imposed in the same. Sectors from other areas that then operated with the click system. away or click inside.
Already on March 31, 2021, the lifting of operational restrictions (lockdown) with respect to retail businesses was officially announced, with a more recent decision the areas of Thessaloniki, Acaya and Kozani were explicitly excluded due to the fact that in their case there is “Epidemiological data specific and local characteristics that require differentiation “.
The above data, in addition to the fact that they suddenly stir, and paradoxically, because other areas with a high epidemiological burden were not excluded from regulation, the planning of retail professionals in our already multi-affected areas has adverse effects on viability. of these companies to be deprived of the minimum liquidity resources expected just 3 weeks before the Easter holidays. The fact that the exemption from the lifting of restrictive measures affects only a few areas is a special condition that requires specific regulation to provide aid to these companies in the form of flat-rate compensation, in order to cover the loss of liquidity. and retail trade. expenses and labor protection.
We must remember that there is a corresponding precedent as with decision No. 29013/2021 (Official Gazette B ‘900 / 08.03.2021) of the Vice Minister of Development and Investments “Support to companies that remained exceptionally suspended during the Christmas period 2020 Due to local effect of the measures to limit the spread of Covid 19 disease “, exceptional financial assistance was provided to the sectors mentioned therein (specified by KAD) by publishing a call for aid in the form of compensation of 3,000 EUR. with the argument that restrictive measures were imposed more onerous than those envisaged for the respective companies throughout the territory, due to the greater epidemiological burden of the specific areas in which they operated.
For this reason, in the case of the retail companies of PE Thessaloniki, Acaya and Kozani there is a special case that justifies, in order to restore the principle of equality, the provision either by legislation or by corresponding to the previous publication of a call to the action in the form of compensation per company and without criteria (turnover / employees etc) at least 5,000 euros, in order to restore liquidity and cover part of the expenses incurred in view of the previously announced lifting of the restrictions that were not implemented suddenly in our areas.
Considering that this measure is a minimal recognition of the burden that has been imposed on retail professionals who are the backbone of the local economy, we await your announcement of the corresponding measure ”.
