A tremendous battle that we had the opportunity to see in the inaugural race of Formula 1. After a dramatic final, Lewis Hamilton was the one who took the victory in the GP of Bahrain leaving Ferstappen second.

Although the Dutchman started and stayed first until the 18th round (with serious concerns about a differential problem presented by the first round), Hamilton strategically took the lead in the race. The moment of the second pit stop for Hamilton came in round 29. The champion lowered his waist and came back about 22 seconds behind the Dutchman. With a new intermediate draft, Hamilton narrowed the gap, so when Ferstappen made his second pitstop on lap 40, Hamilton regained the lead.
Now it was Max’s turn to quickly close the gap with Hamilton, and after a few laps of maintenance on both tires, five laps before the end, the RHb16B was in the Mercedes W12 gearbox.
In the next round, the Dutchman made his attack, from the outside of Turn 4, and passed Hamilton for the lead of the race. But he did so by opening up to the outside of the FIA, which had been strict for three days at the track limits there.
Therefore, the judges ordered RBR to send Ferstappen that the 5-second penalty would not be applied afterwards, but at that point, he had to restore Hamilton’s place on the track. The Dutchman did.
Although he may have thought he could attempt a new overtaking, it seems his tires had already passed that sweet spot of clear superiority over Hamilton’s tires.
And Lewis, with a different psychology now, used all his driving skills to make the most of his own, although he had previously said that he no longer had any control over the rear of the W12, right down to the checkered flag. After all, it was a victory that they both deserved.
Therefore, the winter estimates that the RB16B is faster than the W12 were confirmed, especially with the soft rubber on a lap, but with the medium and hard rubber in the lap arrangements (and at lower temperatures, as was the case today in Shakir) in race conditions, Mercedes is a breeze.
Behind Valteri Botas, who had to give several battles for 3rd place with the different strategies, the triple marginal battle of the second capacity group was also confirmed. Today’s strategy games, and the speed of McLaren, Ferrari of course, have beaten McLaren and Lando Norris.

As for Sebastian Vettel, everything went wrong on his Aston Martin debut. He started last, after a 5-place penalty for ignoring the yellow flags in the heats, and then faced Esteban Ocon in the match and received a 10-second penalty, to finish second to last, just ahead of Mick Schumacher, and Nikita Mazepin Ha lost. control on the second shift and took out the safety vehicle for the first 4 laps.
