A video showing a girl falling steeply has sparked controversy, with some claiming she is “a ghost that pushes the child “forced the experts to come out and respond.” What for some was a supernatural encounter, for the experts it was nothing special.
The 5-second video, which was posted on social media last month, shows a North Carolina boy briskly walking into a room as his mother sits on the couch. Suddenly, the little boy falls sharply backwards.
To the disappointment of some, the analysts who analyzed video it does not detect any paranormal activity. “To me, it seems like the kid is just falling off,” skeptic and science fiction writer Mick West told the NY Post. “When someone is pushed, the initial movement is very fast and leads to the rotation or flexion of the body in the middle.”
“There is no sudden movement here. On the contrary, the initial movement is slow, without reaction. The little one falls alone“Said the former video game developer, whose website Metabunk investigates and rejects conspiracy theories.” It seems that walking is something new and so he has not yet learned to handle loss of balance very well.
And video expert Steven Greenstreet argues that it appears that little boy I tripped over something “The child’s feet stay more or less the same during the fall,” he says. “If they had pushed her, her legs would have moved.” As for the speed of the video, Greenstreet says it is due to a “lower frame rate.”
However, he ends by saying: “A ghost could not have pushed this child because ghosts are not real”.
